Overview
The FLT-100R is an intrinsically safe loop-powered transmitter designed for resistance-type sensor measurements in hazardous environments (Zone 0, 1, or 2). It outputs 4-20mA signals and complies with IEC 60079-0 and IEC 60079-11 explosion protection standards.
1. Safety Information (p.3-4)
- Electrical Hazards:
- Power must be isolated before installation or maintenance.
- The device operates at high voltage, requiring caution.
- Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Precautions:
- Handle PCBs with care to prevent static damage.
- Store PCBs in conductive packaging.
- DO NOT install or uninstall while power is applied.
2. Storage Before Installation (p.5)
- Store in a dry, sheltered area to protect from moisture and extreme temperatures.
- Before installation, verify:
- Physical damage, scratches, dents.
- Bent or distorted components.
- Connector and PCB conditions.
3. General Description (p.7)
- Designed for hazardous areas (Zone 0, 1, and 2).
- 4-20mA analog output with intrinsically safe protection.
- Resistance-type sensor input with 3-wire cable compensation.
- Plastic PBT housing with epoxy molding for durability.

5. Electrical Connection & Zero/Span Calibration (p.9-10)
- Power Terminal (+, -): Connect 12-30V DC power.
- Signal Terminal (H, C, L): Connect resistance-type sensor.
- Zero/Span Calibration:
- Set the sensor resistance to zero/full range.
- Connect a multi-meter to the power terminal.
- Adjust the zero (4mA) / span (20mA) potentiometer using a screwdriver.
6. Installation & Intrinsic Safety Guidelines (p.10-11)
- Installation Steps:
- Pass sensor wires through the central hole in the transmitter.
- Secure the transmitter using mounting screws.
- Ensure firm cable connections to avoid disconnection.
- Precautions:
- Do not overtighten mounting screws (risk of damage).
- Use an enclosure rated IP20 or higher for added protection.
- Intrinsic Safety Certification:
- Must be installed with an intrinsically safe power supply.
- Example barrier compatibility: KFD0-CS-Ex1.50P.
