1. Overview
TRO Reagents are installed inside the TRO Sensor Box within the TSU (TRO Sensor Unit).
📌 Reagent Shelf Life:
- Buffer: Up to 1 year after opening.
- Indicator: Up to 3 months after opening (if cooled by a cooling chamber).
📌 Storage Recommendations:
- Before opening: Store in a shaded, cool place (around 24°C).
- After opening (if unused): Store in a refrigerator, but DO NOT store below 4°C.
📌 Replacement Conditions:
-
Expired reagent or color change requires replacement.
- Normal State: Transparent or light pink.
-
Abnormal State: Dark pink, navy, or black.
📌 Purchasing Reagents:
- TRO Reagents are consumables.

2. Pre-Replacement Preparation
-
Press the "SERVICE" button once to stop seawater flow and empty the Cuvette.
3. Buffer Replacement Procedure
-
Replace the existing Buffer with a newly prepared one.
- Ensure the reagent tube under the cap is correctly positioned and fully submerged in the reagent to prevent suction failure.
- Record the replacement date.
4. Indicator Replacement Procedure
-
Shake the DPD powder thoroughly to ensure it is completely powdery.
- Add the DPD powder to the Indicator solution.
-
Shake the Indicator bottle until the powder is fully dissolved.
- Replace the existing Indicator with the newly prepared one.
- Ensure the reagent tube under the cap is correctly positioned and fully submerged in the reagent to prevent suction failure.
- Record the replacement date.
5. Priming the Reagents
- After reagent replacement, press the "PRIME" button.
-
Press the "↵ (Enter)" button.
-
The reagent pump will activate, injecting reagent into the Cuvette.
- Repeat priming until all air disappears from the reagent tube.
6. Flushing the Reagent Tube (If Tube is Clogged or Air Remains)
-
If the tube appears clogged or air remains in the reagent tube, perform flushing:
- Clean the injector with clean water.
-
Aspirate Buffer or Indicator into a syringe.
-
Inject the aspirated reagent into the reagent tube under the cap of the Buffer or Indicator.
- Verify that the injected reagent flows into the cuvette.
- After flushing, restore the components to their original state.
7. Additional Notes
- If the TRO Sensor is installed in the Pump Room or Upper Deck, it may be an explosion-proof model.
-
Before opening the TRO Sensor door, turn the Air Sentinel key clockwise to switch to BYPASS mode.
-
Before opening the TRO Sensor door, turn the Air Sentinel key clockwise to switch to BYPASS mode.
- After closing the TRO Sensor door, return the Air Sentinel key to its original state.
