1. Purpose
This document provides step-by-step instructions for replacing the detector cartridge on the Dräger Polytron 8200 gas detector.
2. Required Tools and Equipment
- DrägerSensor PR NPT DQ (Part Number: 6814150)
- Screwdriver (for set-screw)
- Replacement Detector Cartridge
- Calibration Gas (for post-replacement calibration)

3. Detector Cartridge Replacement Procedure
Step 1: Access Sensor Change Menu
- On the Polytron 8200 device, navigate to:
- "Settings > Sensor > Sensor Change"
- Confirm the selection.
Step 2: Open the Enclosure
- Loosen the set-screw on the enclosure.
- Unscrew and remove the lid from the instrument.
Step 3: Remove the Old Detector Cartridge
- Lift the handle and pull out the bucket containing the main electronics.
- Remove the old sensor cartridge from its slot.
Step 4: Install the New Detector Cartridge
- Insert the new DrägerSensor PR NPT DQ into the sensor slot.
Step 5: Reassemble the Device
- Place the bucket with electronics back into the enclosure.
- Screw the lid back on until it is properly seated.
- Tighten the set-screw securely.
Step 6: Power On and Calibrate
- Power on the device and allow it to stabilize.
- Perform a calibration of the new sensor following the manufacturer’s recommended procedure.
4. Post-Replacement Verification
- Confirm sensor communication and stability.
- Verify gas detection functionality through calibration.
