Overview
The Electro-Pneumatic Tank Remote Sounding System is designed for precise level measurement in ballast and oil tanks, as well as draft level detection. It utilizes hydrostatic pressure measurements and converts pneumatic signals into electrical signals for monitoring.
1. Safety Information (p.4-5)
- Electrical Hazards: Disconnect power before maintenance.
- Anti-Static Precautions: Avoid handling PCBs without proper grounding.
- Storage Precautions: Keep the unit dry and protected from extreme temperatures.
2. System Components (p.10-14)
2.1 Composition Type Pneumatic Modulator (CT-100M-R1)
- Converts liquid pressure into a 4-20mA electrical signal.
- Air Pressure: 4.5 kg/cm².
- Output: 4-20mA, 2-wire DC signal.
2.2 Dual Check Type Safety Chamber (SC-100F)
- Prevents liquid ingress into signal lines.
- Max Working Pressure: 10 kg/cm².
2.3 Pneumatic Indicator (CT-180)
- Displays tank level based on hydrostatic pressure.
- Does not compensate for ship trim and heel angles.
2.4 Air Supply Unit (AP-ASB2000)
- Regulates air pressure at 4.5 kg/cm².
2.5 Optional Components
- Pressure Switch (CP-100PS): Triggers alarms when levels exceed limits.
- Special Air Purge Unit: Ensures accurate readings by preventing liquid entry.
- I/I Converter (HIC-100): Isolates input/output 4-20mA signals for noise reduction.
- Analog Input Module (DL-1100): Provides 8-channel analog input for monitoring.
3. Operation & Calibration (p.15-24)
3.1 Working Principle
- Uses hydrostatic pressure to determine liquid levels.
- Converts pneumatic signals to 4-20mA electrical output for monitoring.
3.2 Calibration Procedures
- Pneumatic Modulator Flow Rating: Ensures accurate response times.
- Gauge Saver Setting: Prevents excessive pressure damage.
- P/I Converter Calibration: Adjusts zero & span settings using a pressure calibrator.
4. Troubleshooting Guide (p.25-26)
Issue | Cause | Solution |
---|---|---|
Zero Point Offset | Leak in purge line | Check for leaks, reset zero |
Incorrect Level Reading | High flow rate, line blockage | Adjust flow, clean blockage |
No Response | No air supply, electrical fault | Verify power & air pressure |
Unstable Readings | Condensation in lines | Open bypass valve to stabilize |
5. Storage & Maintenance (p.19-20)
- Store in a dry, vibration-free environment.
- Regularly inspect air lines and electrical connections.
- Ensure all system components are securely mounted.
